The Transitus is a Franciscan devotion to ritually remember the passing of Saint Francis from this life into God. This ritual takes place each year, with Franciscans around the world on the evening of October 3rd. (Feast Day is October 4th)
Our fraternity will be having a Transitus Service on Thursday October 3rd from 7-7:30pm in the Worship Center. Following this service is a pot-luck dinner for fellowship in Room #11. All are welcome!
Stephen Brace says
Don’t forget the Dominicans that join us on the Transitus and the Franciscans joining the Dominicans on the feast day of St. Dominic. Our leader f the Transitus this year, Fr. Bala, OFM stated that in his home county that the homily after the reading about the life of St. Francis is conducted by a Dominan priest or deacon and likewise at the feast of St. Dominic that a Franciscan priest or deacon conducts the homily. It goes to show the bond of fraternal love. Our Transitus in Nashville by the Seven Dolors of the BVM fraternity had many members from the lay Dominicans of St. Celicia chapter join us this year and was a hug success in the fellowship we offered each other.
