There are quite a few good apps now available for the iPhone, Droid Phones, and tablets the help with Franciscan Spirtuality, tourism, and history:
iBreviary Pro Terra Sancta
This App was developed by the Custodia, the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Land.
Available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, Kindle Fire, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry, and widgets (for websites). This app is an instrument of prayer that offers the Liturgy of the Hours, the Daily Missal, and Catholic Prayers and Rituals. This app is currently embeded on our website under our Franciscan Prayers.
The Liturgy of the Hours
The iBreviary is your portable breviary. You can use it to pray with the full texts of the Liturgy of the Hours in just five languages. Simply launch the application and all the texts of the day will appear before you.
The texts of the Liturgy of the Hours, are formatted just as they appear in the printed version. Thus the iPad version, thanks to the generous screen, gives one the feeling of holding a book with all the functionality and convenience of an Apple application. This app also supports a setting for the Franciscan Liturgical Proper (so it has special readings on days like October 4th for Saint Francis’ Feast Day).
The Daily Missal for the celebration of Mass
The iBreviary offers you the complete daily missal to follow the Mass or, if you’re a priest, even to celebrate it. It is similar to the missalettes and worship aids found in your church.
The Missal of the iBreviary contains the Ordinary of the Mass, the Eucharistic Prayers, Masses for the the Saints, daily Mass readings, Prefaces, Prayers of the Faithful, Solemn Blessings, rites for various celebrations and other liturgical texts.
Catholic Prayers and Rituals
Are you in a quiet place, finding yourself wanting to pray a rosary or a devotion like the Way of the Cross? The iBreviary offers all the major Catholic prayers and more!
The iBreviary also offers the complete texts of the rites for the celebration of all the sacraments: the Anointing of the Sick, Viaticum, Marriage (including the readings), the funeral rites, Communion of the Sick, and many other rites useful for meditation, prayer and pastoral ministry.
This App is FREE, but your donations are welcome and help support our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land, the Holy Sites, and support Christian formation and charities in the Holy Land.
