On Saturday, March 23, from 9:30am-2pm, we will be helping with the spring Justice & Peace Day of Reflection here at Incarnation, and I hope you’ll consider joining us! Download the flyer here The theme of the day is The Demands of Environmental Justice and we will welcome as our main speaker Fr. John Rausch, who chairs the Catholic Committee for Appalachia and has worked extensively in the areas of environmental justice, economic justice, and mountaintop removal with the people of southwest VA and eastern KY. He will draw from his own experiences and also talk about the connections between ecology, simplicity, and spirituality. We’ll have time for personal reflection and group sharing as well. It should fit in well with Lent, too, and help to prepare us for Holy Week as we explore themes of suffering and resurrection in today’s world.
We’ll have coffee in the morning starting at 9am and will serve lunch too. There is no fee, though we are suggesting a donation to help cover the cost of bringing Fr. John and of providing lunch. Please RSVP by Monday, 3/18, so Kristen can make appropriate lunch plans–you can simply RSVP to Kristen Schenk if you’d like to join us.
