Meeting notes - February 13, 2016

Attendance:  Carl, Rebecca, Phil, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Martha, Anne, Therese, Sheila, Gail, and John

Guests:  Zach & Joan

1) Opening Prayers & Daily Office - Mid-Day Prayer

2) Formation -- reading of SFO Rule #4 & Discussion

• Rule #4 The rule and life of the Secular Franciscans is this: to observe the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by following the example of St. Francis of Assisi who made Christ the inspiration and the center of his life with God and people.

Christ, the gift of the Father’s love, is the way to him, the truth into which the Holy Spirit leads us, and the life which he has come to give abundantly.
Secular Franciscans should devote themselves especially to careful reading of the gospel, going from gospel to life and life to gospel.

• Fr. Gregory will be at our next meeting to offer us instruction on praying the Divine Office

3) Great fellowship and food -- thanks for all those sharing their bounty, thoughts, and prayers!

4) Secretary's Report:  John will contact Helga arrange a visit with sister Rose in February.  Deposit check was dropped off at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery to secure dates for our Annual Retreat in October.

Mercy in Action

Our fraternity is beginning a new work of mercy to help our parish food bank each month.  We will be making a monthly pick-up of food at Trader Joe's.  Sheila reports that this ministry is now serving 140 area families, who receive needed food each week.  On Saturday February 13th we filled-up 4 cars with food from their generous donation. Thanks for everyone's help.

NEXT PICK-UP:  Saturday, February 27th at 10am
